✿Lavender Farm

I visited this lavender farm in Mt. Shasta in end of June.   This place is so beautiful with the great view of the Mt. Shasta.  Some lavender flowers were blooming but not full boom yet at that time.  I wish I could see full bloom...  (you can see how it looks when it's full bloom on their website, please take a look, it's so beautiful)

These on the photo are English lavender.  They also have French lavender as well but I heard they bloom a few weeks after English kind, so when I visited there, they weren't blooming at all.  Usually this time of the year is a good time to visit this farm but the daughter of the farm owner told me it's been cold this year that blooming little late than usual.

This farm produce tons of original lavender items like soap, toner, sachet, buntle, tea and culinary lavender.

I bought this culinary lavender for a souvenir for myself and I made Sel de Provence (Herbs of Provence)

It's mix of sea salt and herbs.  I am giving away to some friends as a little gift.

My friend Saorin went to the lavender farm several weeks ago and she got me this lavender soap.  She is so sweet. Merci Saorin !

✿Sour Cherries

My Japanese Tea Ceremony Master, Yuko-san gave me tons of sour cherries from her garden.  It was sour but it was really good.
She recommended me to make comport with it.  She said it taste good on top of cake and I think these are good on biscuit as well.
I just made loquat comport the other day and I made sour cherry comport as she suggested.  I really enjoy making preserved food !
This sour cherry comport came out really yummy which combine both sourness and sweetness.

Left of the photo is a sour cherry liquor.  I just simply mixed it with coconut sugar and vodka.  I don't drink alcohol at all but these can be great treat when I have guests. It's high-alcohol so just little amount satisfy the guest and I still have prune wine I made 3 years ago. (I made a lot though...)

My friend came to visit us from France, he loved my 3 year aged prune wine.
By the way, I had 10 French friends came to stay at my place in last a month and a half.  You know, French people take long vacance in summer !  My friends brought their friends and I ended up having 10 guest.
Last guest brought me macaroons from Paris !  yay~

In July, my friends and I who worked on fundraising for Japan for last 3 months got together and had a potluck party.   It was about 20 people who could actually come that day (more people helped us) and each of us brought a dish to share.
I made raw cake with raw almonds and raw cacao powder.  I got inspired by Cafe Gratitude's Bliss cake which is my favorite cake and I just had that on my birthday as well.
I decorated with rose and mint from my garden.
My good friend Haru-san loved the taste as well as the decoration and she took the roses back home. ♥
It was so cute that I didn't want to cut it... but it was about time to taste it...

We all had so much feast !!  Loved it.
