✿Hemp Mask

These are some of my hemp items I made for home use.
Hemp fabric is 4 times durable than cotton and breathable.  It has moisture absorption and sweat-absorbent so its warm in the winter and cool in summer.  Here is the link I wrote about hemp.
Tea pot matt is good for keeping the tea pot stays warm.  It's also great to use as cell phone matt because hemp has potential energy to neutralize electromagnetic wave.

Tea towel, I often use it as handkerchief.

Mask. Its great when you are coughing a lot.  It prevents spreading the virus to other people and it's etiquette to wear mask when you catch cold in Japan.
Also, when the air is dry, it makes even more cough so keeping the mask around the mouth help to keep the moisture around!!

Rose hair accessories. I thought using hemp on accessories are cute as well !

✿Laduree

I love Laduree.
By the time we arrived at Laduree in St-Germain around 5 or 6 p.m., they didn't have any pastry left beside macarrons that day.  The waiter gave us 2 more macaroons by mistake so we mentioned it but he was so kind that he just gave us more than we order !  lucky...

✿Bath Fizz

In  the aromatherapy class, I made bath fizz.   Bath fizz is something to put in the bath to enjoy the aroma of essential oil and essential oil has lot of positive effect for many things as to  relax,  to get energyze, to help digesting and many more functions.  Each oil has different functions to the body and mind.  In the class, we used baking soda, corn starch, citric acid, dry herb powder, carrier oil and essential oil to make bath fizz.

I used french canelé molds and I really like the look of them.
♥ so cute ♥    Also, I grind these dry geranium flower to add the color the bath fizz.  You can see little pink texture on the photo above.

I mixed cedarwood, geranium, rosemary essentisial oil for aroma and used sweet almond oil as carrier oil (base oil).

Next week, I'm going to be making herb tincture in the class and really excited about it !! yay~~

✿Soaking Nuts

In raw food diet, soaking nuts in water for several hours before taste is basic and important technique to eat more healthy.  Nuts naturally contain enzyme inhibitors and it is also same for beans, grains and seeds.  Enzyme inhibitors components to prevent nuts and seeds from sprouting prematurely without right atmosphere like without sun light, or without water etc...

Enzyme inhibitors makes nuts hard to digest and that's why it needs to be soaked. By soaking the nuts in water for several hours, it clear off the enzyme inhibitors and make digest much easier.

In raw food diet, one of the most important focus is to take enzyme as much as possible from fresh vegetable, fruits and raw nut (grains, seed, beans as well)

Soaking nuts times depends on the density of the nuts.

Almonds 8 ~ 12 hours
Cashew nuts  2 ~ 3 hours
Walnuts  4 hours
pecan nuts   4 hours

also no need to soak Brazil nuts, hazel nuts, pine nuts.

I attended raw food class in Oakland a few month ago and the instructor told us that even in supermarket as wholefood sell RAW almonds but they are not truly mean RAW.  They've heat processed the nuts so that they don't get damaged by mold.  They are not roasted but not really raw.  Berkeley farmer's market sell REAL RAW almonds !!  yay ! (.....but it expensive !)

✿Raw Cacao Truffles

I love raw sweets.
I started eating raw food 2 years ago and one of the first raw sweet I ever made was this raw cacao truffles.  I can't even remember how many times I've made this over the last 2 years.  I probably make this at least 2 times a months.

Since so many people have asked about this recipe, I would like to share it on my blog.
Most of the time, I don't measure each ingredients, I just follow how I feel that day.  less sweetness, more cacao powder, or almond nuts instead of cashew nuts... each times there is a bit of differences but basically, my recipe is something like this.

2 cups of raw cashew nuts (sometime I make with raw almonds)
6 Dates
1 tbs of goji berry
1 tbs raw coconuts oil
2 tbs raw cacao powder
1 tbs raw maca powder
1/2 ts cinnamon powder
1 ts raw honey (maple syrup is ok)
1/2 cup of coconut flakes

First of all, soak the cashew nuts in water at least 2 hours (almond at least 8 hours).   Linse them well with running water to wash off enzyme inhibitors (this process is important when you eat raw nuts, it help easy digestion) Dry the nuts on dry towel for at least half an hour.

1. take out pits from dates.  put dates, goji berries, nuts in food processor until they become crumbs.
2. add coconuts oil and run the food processor until it blends.
3. add cacao powder, maca powder, cinammon powder and run food processor until it blends.
4. add honey or maple syrup.  if you like it to be more sweeter than recipe, add more as you desire.
5. make balls. size of the ball is about 1 tea spoon.
6. put coconut flakes around the balls.

You can taste it right away or keep in the fridge if you don't eat them right away!

enjoy !
