✿Calligraphy Class 5

My calligraphy teacher, Lauren teaches 5 calligraphy classes in each season.
Two weeks ago, we did fun decorated letters in class.
I spent an hour to an hour and half to write this letter M. My hand was hurting after that... It took lots of concentration.

As usual, Lauren's friend Kathleen made this cake and salad for us.

We have last class of this season tomorrow and I am wondering what Kathleen is cooking this time !  I know she always makes beautiful and delicious food.

Also, after the calligraphy class, we will have craft time as well.
I wonder what we will make ! I can't wait !

✿Normandy Village

This is one of my favorite places in Berkeley, Normandy Village in north side of University of Berkeley Campus. I probably talk about this place on my blog before.

Every time I have visitors from other city or country, I take them here.
This is just a little cute village and I love this place so much.
I even had my photo shoot taking for my hats and clothes in beautiful model a long time ago.
(you can see some photos on my website www.momoca.com)

These photos were taking when I was showing Berkeley to a friend from Croatia. I took her to Normandy village and UC Berkeley campus that day.

Sather Gate...
Library...
My shop was near the campus so I often walked to go to work and went to library as well !
It was also perfect to walk my dog, Ren. (she past away several years ago).

✿Sukiyabukuro

Evening of January 1st, I had yummy Japanese meal at friend's house. It was so good that I eat too much !
... and on the way back to my house, I was taking to my friends about the perfect moon circle I saw on Christmas Eve night, and that moment, I saw a shooting star in front of my house.
It's been a while since I last saw a shooting star and I was really really happy about that ! (yay)

This little purse is called "Sukiyabukuro" in Japanese and it's often used by people who takes "Sadou" (tea ceremony lesson) or "Buyou" (traditional dance lesson) to put folding fan, handkerchief and money for the lesson etc...
I didn't have one for my tea ceremony lesson so I made my own.

I did "Sashiko" style stitches and it has magnet closure.

This is the first one I made with linen fabric I bought in Japan last August.
It looks like air-mail envelope to me.

✿Happy New Year !

Hello blog readers, Happy new year to all of you!
I've started my blog in May 2006 when I first went to London and Paris because my friend, Matt and my husband Jasko suggested me to blog so that they could follow my exciting trip.
It's 2013 now... wow... ! I'm still blogging and that's amazing to me.
It's not easy to be consist because sometime I have nothing to write about or I don't feel like writing anything... but I write because I know you read it ! ... so thank you !

My friend, Serra who lives in NYC visited Paris right before X'mas and sent me this card. It's Coco Chanel painted by Marie Laurencin in 1923.
Marie Laurencin is one of my favorite painter and I wrote about her HERE.
Thanks Serra for finding me this card !
Also, thanks so much for those of you who sent us holiday cards...

For the New Year's eve, we were at Christelle's place for (big) lunch.
She was my French tutor while ago and I think I see her and her family every holiday for last several years now.
Her parents come from France every Christmas holiday and I enjoy seeing them as well.
We ate so much delicious food... and finally pear cake at the end !
Thank you so much, Christelle and her family !

For the last few days of 2012, I went to make Mochi in Japan Town in SF and went to a big party at my tea master, Yuko-san's house in Oakland Hill.
I ended 2012 so happily and I am so excited about 2013...

Thanks to my family and friends... and you who read my blog...
Let's have great 2013 !
